Based on fuzzy theory, a new method to process the information of light intensity from the mouth of converter in steel making is introduced. Aimed to provide new set of characteristic parameters for the automatic control of the end-point in this paper. The light intensity collection system consists of three parts, the optical system, the SCM conversion-communication systems and the software. The information of collected light intensity was processed with the help of the MATLAB to produce plots of the fluctuation of the light intensity based on which the rules of the prophase, metaphase and anaphase were summarized. Data from experiments were used to do simulations which justified the effectiveness of our method.
