Nowadays supramolecular chemistry or host-guest chemistry has become one of the hot fields of chemical research.Just as there is a field of molecular chemistry based on the covalent bond, there is a field of supramolecular chemistry based on intermolecalar force with specific structure and function, there is a field of chemistry based on noncovalent bond.Supramolecular action is a kind of molecular interaction with molecular recognition ability. It includes Van der Waals and electrostatic interactions,hydrogen-bonding and hydrophobic interaction, which are accompanied by spacial effect.Cucurbit[n]urils and homologues are new kind of cage compounds with favourable rigidity and hydrophobic cavity.Due to their special structure, cucurbit[n]urils are becoming a series new container to hold molecular of different sizes and properties or self-assembly forming molecular capsule or lorica through the interaction between guests and ports. So they are one of the important investigation of the supramolecular chemistry with attention of allied disciplines such as guest-host chemistry, environmental chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, material chemistry and so on.The cyclodextrin-induced room temperature phosphorescence(CD-RTP) established by Cline Love.It was based on the theory that phosphorescent molecules, external heavy atom pertuber and cyclodextrins can form a trimolecular inclusion complex with deoxygenization. The phosphorescence emission was observed through the enhancement of intersystem crossing by heavy atom and the protection of cyclodextrin cavity. The mode of Q[n]-induced RTP was discussed with the appropriative probes of Q[n]s.It was first reported as "Q[n]-induced RTP of naphthalene and the supramolecular sandwich inclusion mode" which was different from the trimolecular inclusion complex but comparatively reasonable.Q[n]-induced RTP of phenyl imidazole and phenanthroline isomers in the presence of potassium iodide was successfully determined with Na2SO3 as oxygen scavenger. The effects of various factors such as concentration of Na2SO3,potassium iodide and Q[n]s were investigated for RTP.The results showed a wide linear and high detection sensitivity. Stable inclusion complexes formed between larger cavity host(Q[8]) and norflxacin, levofloxacin, fleroxacin, gatifloxacin, sparfloxacin and enoxacin which had fine ray structure were detected by UV absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy,1H NMR technique and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) methods in details. This provided data base for application of Q[n]s in the fields of pharmaceutical preparations, drug isolation and pharmaceutical analysis.
