Viscose Fibre is one of revival cellulose fibres made from natural cellulose with a lot of great properties as cotton such as its hydrophility, antistatic property, dyeability and so on. On account of loosen arrangement of its molecules, shorter molecule chains, lower degree of crystallization, it has a few disadvantages such as lower wet strength , lower abrasion resistance, lower elasticity, lower measurement stability and lower anti-biochemical agent .The graft copolymerization is one of the important methods for Viscose Fibre to modify its properties. It is the most important for Graft Copolymerization of vinyl monomers on to cellulose to choose initiators. So normal initiators used for graft polymerization of vinyl monomers on cellulose were reviewed. The characterization, initiating mechanism and the application of initiators were discussed. Firstly, the graft copolymerization of Viscose Fiber with acrylamide as monomer and with cerium ammonium nitrate, patassium permanganate, hydrogenperoxide, and potassium persulphate /sodium bisulfate as initiators was discussed. The factors affecting on the weight and-on of fibers were investigated. We found that cerium ammonium nitrate was better than other initiators in grafting rate.Secondly, the graft copolymerization of Viscose fiber with acrylamide as monomer and cerium ammonium nitrate as initiator was discussed. The factors afecting on the weight and-on of fibers were studied. Results showed that the condition of reaction was the best when the concentration of AM was 0.85mol/L, the concentration of nitric acid was 0.04 mol/l,the temperature was 55℃, the time was 5h, the concentration of the initiator was 2.19mmol/l.Then the structure and properties of the grafting fibres were studied. Throughout identifying the graft copolymers with infrared spectra (IR) and 1 H-NMR Characteristic peak in the purified fibres advented, as in dicate that AM had grafted the chain of cellulose. Properties of Viscose fiber grafted with vinyl monomers to the and-on were analyzed by using measuring strength and elongation at break, dyeing ability, moisture regain, whiteness, and so on.
