Vanadium is an essential trace element of human and is very widespread in nature. A great deal of investigations suggest that vanadium complexes have good insulin activity. At present, a few of vanadium complexes have been applied in clinic tria1. This is a kind of medicine that has bright foreground of curing diabetic. Thus, synthesis of vanadium complexes has been hotspot in research. Thiosemicarbazone and acylthiourea as good biological activities and strong coordination ability, its complexes with transition metal have anti-tumor, catalyze, inhibiting bacteria and other functions. In this paper, we synthesized a series of new oxovanadium complexes, investigated their crystal structures and characterized their spectral properties. And the interaction between the vanadium complexes with calf thymus DNA have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry, absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and viscosity measurements. This thesis consists of five chapters and the main contents as follows:Chapter one, a review. The basic biochemical properties and structural characteristics of oxovanadium complexes containing S ligands were briefly introduced, including thiosemicarbazone ligands and dithiocarbazate ligandsChapter two, synthesis and spectrum characterization of ligands and oxovanadium complexes. The basic biochemical properties, general synthesis methods of thiourea. Synthesis methods of nine kinds of thioureas were given in detail. These oxovanadium compounds were obtained through routine methods, and the single crystals were cultivated by free volatilization and ether diffusing way. These complexes were characterized by IR and elemental analysis.Chapter three, Crystal structures determination and analysis of oxovanadium complexes. The crystal structures of five complexes were obtained by X-ray single crystal diffraction method, and the crystal characters were described.Chapter four, the interactions of oxovanadium complexes with DNA. The research significances and modes of the interactions between transition metal complexes and DNA were briefly introduced. The interactions between the four complexes with DNA were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and viscosity measurements.
