The slitting machine is one of indispensable equipments in small and medium steel rolling product line, which involves difficult techniques. The flexible slitting machine broke through the limits of fixed width slit of the traditional slitting machine, extended the application and supplied an effective solution for other flexible slit requirement. Because of the better shape and high supporting capability, the productions of flexible roll forming have found widespread use in many fields. As the first process of the flexible roll forming, the flexible slitting machine has directly influence on the quality of the productions.This thesis focuses on the flexible slitting machine. First, analyze the structure and the principle of the slitting machine and the feeder machine. Built the model of the slitting machine in SolidWorks and wrote the control program in LabVIEW. Use the technology of co-simulation to verify the control strategy. According to the requirement of servo control for the slitting machine and variable frequency control for feeding device, the electrical control cabinet has been produced to establish the control platform and the software platform of the flexible slitting machine. The symmetric or asymmetric slit has been completed by the Virtual Instrument based control system. The control laws are summarized from a great quantity of slit experiments and precision analysis of the tract control and the flexible slit quality analysis are given to lay the ground work for future research.
