The protection devices in power line are used as the switching devices for circuit connecting and breaking, and they are used for analyzing a variety of data and implementing protection against a variety of fault. Protection devices provide security for power supply system. With the development of power industry, the higher demands are needed for the performance of various protection devices.This article based on DSP is about the study of intelligent protector used for underground high-voltage power grid. In the article, a new device design of underground relay is proposed. The modular design concept is used in this paper, and the protector is divided into three parts, as follows: the power module, control panel modules and the motherboard module. The paper designs a microprocessor-based protection system, which using double CPUs on the main base of DSP and the auxiliary base of single chip microcomputer. The DSP (TMS320F2812) achieves the main functions: data collection, data calculation, protection judgment, protection movements, and so on. The SCM (P89C61X2) achieves real-time capabilities.Finally, through the experiment, the performance of the smart protector can be tested: selectivity, sensitivity, speed and flexibility. This division of labor between master and slave processor approaches to achieve integration of communications functions, providing a reliable guarantee for the relay.
