Research On Application Of BIM In Coal Mine Extraction Project Management

Coal is the main energy source in China, and it will still be the dominated energystructure in the future for a relatively long time. However, inefficiency of project managementwas caused by the limitation of current mining project management methods and tools, thusaffected the coal industry production efficiency. As an advanced revolutionary technology，BIM will certainly bring historical changes to the engineering management of thecoal mining industry. It is able to manage the mining engineering process through the use ofBIM management information system and3D model with various underground mining data, itchanges the business process and the cooperation way and enables each participant of theproject to collaborate more effectively, and plays a positive role in the project management inthe whole life cycle.In order to improve the problems existing in the current coal mine extraction projectmanagement, and improve the efficiency of coal mine extraction objective management, thispaper chooses the application of BIM in coal mining project management as the researchdirection by way of literature review, qualitative analysis,case study, through in-depthanalysis of different definitions of BIM, arrives at a conclusion that BIM is not only3D-model results but also processes. Meanwhile, this paper summarizes several connotationelements of BIM in depth analysis, which includes BIM’s information carrier-BIM3D model,BIM’s means of realization-BIM software, and BIM vitality (the entire life cycle of theproject). Furthermore, this paper applies the BIM technology to coal mine extractionmanagement using case studies, so as to demonstrate the superiority of BIM in the coal mineextraction management application.Finally, problems and obstacles and countermeasures of BIM application in coal mineextraction project management are discussed in this paper. It is hoped that the application ofBIM technology can help coal mine managers with effective coal mine extraction projectmanagement, gradually improve the efficiency of coal mine production, optimize coal mine production process, so that the coal mine industry can provide better services to the nationaleconomic development.
