| Metropolis area is a region that consisted by one or more central cities and adjacent towns which have close social and economic connections with the central. It is also a coordinated development area with integration trend. A central city core and a well-developed connecting channels as the basis, metropolis area attracts and radiates all round, promotes linkages and collaboration between cities, and accelerates economic development in surrounding areas. Nowadays, in the process of accelerating our urbanization, it is a significant measure which gives full play to the role of central cities that building urban areas with a central city core.The land area of Ganzhou is 39.4 thousand square kilometers, which is one quarter of that of Jiangxi province. There are about 8.8 million people in Ganzhou and it occupies one in five population of Jiangxi. However, the scale of the central city is still small and the comprehensive strengh is weak for a long time. Obviously, it's out of their ability. Moreover, the program management of the neighbor cities, as Ganxian, Nankang, Shangyou etc. are separate from each other. So, it's difficult to develop in harmonious. It's more and more obvious that the contradictory among definition of the city, industry, environment, utilization of the land. Therefore, it's essential to use the theory of regional research and planning home and abroad to investigate the problems, in order to find the way of management, and structure arrangement in Ganzhou's spatial development.This article started from the definition of Ganzhou's metropolis area. Combined theory and practice, qualitative and quantitative, based on in-depth analysis of the Socio-economic characteristics and problems about metropolis area of Ganzhou, this article investigated the spatial development orientation, development strategy, spatial structure and arrangement, industry, transport and ecological spatial structure of Ganzhou's metropolis area, and proposed some measures and observations. |
