With the national economy rapidly developing, the consumers'demand for electricity is higher, so the power distribution network is being expanded and improved on a large scale in the city and rural aera. The managing and maintaining method to power distribution network, which is mainly dependent on the drawings and the work experience, not only looks backwards but also affects working efficiency heavily. How to make the electrical construction and management be highly efficient automatic, scientific further and use advanced management method to replace the old manual kind of management which is not efficient and trivial, is paid attention by many people concerned more and more. the information industry are violently developing, especially computer technology,which provides the possibility to reform the management model of the electrical distribution network.In the equipment management of the power distribution network system, which is need to proceed more equipment data and drawings which are concerned with geographical information. The paper has completed exploitation and realization of Geographic information system in Dongkou County owing to GIS single printing plate pattern, aiming at the current situation and need for management of some 10 area kV distribution networks, using the advanced technologies of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS), applying a large relational database, which based on network environment, It's main function is using computers to manage the specific features and files on GIS, which can provide all kinds of management information for the electrical department timely, accurately and completely. The system that is built is not only powerful enough to guarantee electrical safety production, but also provides the basis of auxiliary decisions for the power distribution network's program scientifically.The main contents and results as below:1. Design and establish the distribution networks spatial database of Dongkou County:Spatial information of distribution network has been catalogued reasonably on the basis of analyzing the character of spatial data distribution network; various attributes of the table structure has been designed by analyzing the equipment account;Spatial data and attributes has been integrated and input into a large relational database management system.2. Create a distribution network of digital map:Based on the spatial data acquisition.reasonable layering and coding, the standard distribution network facilities symbol library was constructed and distribution network map was drawn referring related rules and standards of power industry.1:10 million in the region topographic maps has been put into the system and achieved their registration; the differences, corner, power stations and substations of GIS in 1 lOkV, 35KV and 10KV line has been measured by using hand-held GPS and Total Station; according to the principle of hierarchical design of spatial database, the data measured by the use of GPS instrument has been putted into the system and distribution network digital map of Dongkou County has been established, and using GPS instrument.3. Organize and realize distribution network GIS system of Dongkou county:An integrated application system based on GIS of the distribution facilities and information management was developed for the distribution network managers. The system realizes the function of mapping operation, edition, data management, information inquiry and statistic etc.
