As a new kind of structure system, the bottom big space reinforced block masonry shear wall structure has its structural characteristics, and also meets the needs of the building at the bottom of a large space requirements. It has broad application prospects in the future due to the more economic advantage than the reinforced concrete shear wall structures. At present, many scholars have begun research in this area, and have made a number of related results. The main work and research results on the seismic performance of this structure in this paper sum up as follows:(1) Through existing theories, the reinforced block masonry shear wall is equivalent to the reinforced concrete shear wall. Two models of block masonry wall structure (model 1 and model 2) and two models of the bottom two floors of a large space structure of reinforced block masonry shear wall structure (model 3 and model 4) are analyzed with the elastic static method by the Midas/Building,(2) Select two actual earthquake records and an artificial seismic wave to execute elastic dynamic time-history analysis of these four models under the condition of 7 degree earthquake, and then compare the results with the analysis of spectrum. The results show that the top displacements and base shear response vary obviously with different seismic waves. This is one of complications that need to pay attention to during the process of elastic dynamic analysis,(3) Fiber model in the program of Midas/Building is adopted to simulate the nonlinear model of reinforced concrete block masonry shear walls. With respect to these four models, Pushover analysis has been done under the rare circumstances of 7 and 8 degree earthquakes. Curves of base shear-top displacement and capacity spectrum-demand spectrum and plastic hinge distribution have been obtained, (4) Based on above analysis, reasonable suggestions are presented in this paper, which are related to the subject on the stiffness ratio of the bottom layer and the second bottom layer of the big space reinforced block masonry shear walls and proper height of structure.
