Anti-lock braking system (ABS) is an important device to improve the active safety of vehicle. Today with the improved development of the vehicle, ABS is applied wider and wider. The primary role of Anti-lock braking system is to prevent the vehicle wheels lock up, and to maintain directional steerability and stability. so that vehicles can stop in a shorter distance, give full play to brake performanceFirst of all ,the theory of ABS was expounded which include working theory, structure and primary control strategies (threshold control , PID control , sliding model control , fuzzy control ) at present .As for the vehicle models which were built in ABS research field to be simple presently, the research on ABS based on multi-body dynamics and intelligent control theory were presented in this paper. A multi-body vehicle dynamic model was built by ADAMS/CAR, the model include front and rear suspension system, engine system, steering system, anti-roll system, brake system and vehicle body model. MATLAB, which is a control simulation software. Anti-lock braking system based on sliding mode variable structure control is designed in the MATLAB / Simulation. The use of ADAMS / Controls software interface to achieve a joint simulation of ADAMS and MATLAB.By comparing the simulation results of different braking control strategy, We found sliding mode control has good control effect. The slip rate has been maintained at near the expected slip rate. Throughout the braking process, the speed of change in a smooth, braking distance is short, be able to guarantee that the vehicles handling and stability during braking requirements.The research and development of ABS is systemic issue. Limited by the experimental condition and capacity, this article only studies on ABS control system simulation. Through the simulation analysis to verify the feasibility of the proposed algorithm results show that the sliding mode variable structure control method can get a good control effect.
