Currently there are two methods for detecting ABS braking performance of vehicle: the road test method and the desktop method. Road test method is more intuitive and simple, but it is more dangerous with high cost and difficult to determine the exact location of failure. The desktop method is just a static test lack of ability to accurately reflect the changes of front and rear wheel load in vehicle brake process, although it is of higher performance and lower cost for brake performance detection. Therefore, the development of a test platform to simulate dynamic vehicle ABS braking process is currently the emphasis and difficulty in vehicle ABS braking performance test. This article aims to develop a detection system for test platform of rolling ABS, satisfying the needs of dynamic test. First of all, the control model was developed and simulation studies were constructed by using MATLAB based on the analysis of dynamics principles and axial load transfer in ABS braking process. Secondly, an automatic pressure system was designed, that is digital valve connected by step motor and hydraulic valve. The model was then developed and simulated. Thirdly, according to the needs of pressure control system, MCU 89S51 was employed as control core for hardware design including speed data acquisition circuit, pressure test circuit, and communication circuit. Finally the data acquisition, digital valve control, and PC communication software were then programmed. By designing automatic loading system, an excellent platform was provided for rolling ABS brake test platform to simulate actual brake situation. ABS test platform was consequently made to more accurately simulate actual braking process on road surface.
