In this paper, the main environmental factors that affect thermal stress on cement concrete pavement are analyzed. A class library is created for performing object-oriented finite element analysis in C++. These classes model the basic concepts and tools needed for finite element analysts. using these classes, a program is finished to analyze the thermal stress on cement concrete pavement. It is obviously different with the structure programming. The advantages of object-oriented finite element programming are demonstrated. This research also lays the foundation for development of a new generation of highly modular, reusable, and easily maintainable cement concrete pavement computer-aided design software systems.
