With the performance of the settling residence project and the developing of the comfort-able resitdence Chinese have been requiring more and more dwelling houses since 1990. At the same time, the Sustainable Development is fully under way, so wall materials reform andenergy saving constructions have been performing in the civil engineering field. Clearly, sub-high rise meidences will prevail on all types of Chinese residonces. For architecturalrequirements, residnces have many walls. As a result it is comparatively resonable thatsub-high rise residences are frame-wall structures or shear Wall structures We a1l know thatshear wall structures have large sectional area and the capability of bearing vertical loads isrespectively high.Nevertheless, under seismic forces they have large inertia forces and smalllateral displacemente. Therefore it is known that they have poor ductility and belong to brittlestructures Besides, they are not up to the standard of energy saving. For above resons, oursubject studies hollow shear wall of R.C. which has not only good energy saving capabilitybut also small self-weight small stiffess and good ductility If the wall is put into use, shearwall structures will be energy saving and ductile structures.lOur subject focuses on the experimental study and practicability analysis of hollow shearwall of R.C. Its test specimens are three differeot hollow shear wal1s of R.C. The NO.l, NO.2and NO.3 specimen, in its given order is ordinary style,"X"steel bracing style and slit style ofhollow shear wall of R.C Firstly, by low-cycle and reverse horizonal loading test theirproperties including strength property, deformation property and energy property are studied.speaking in detail, for every specimen, we study the for of the cracking load, yield load and failure load; the ductility property; the property of hystersis curvs and keleton-framecurves; the degree of initial stiffess and stiffness degadation.
