LiaoYuan Aerospace Machinery Manufacture Corporation (LAMC) is the only specialized landing gear manufacturing corporation in China. With its on- growing development and rapid increase of international cooperation, LAMC comes to know that it is urgent and necessary to increase its design and manufacturing efficiency, so as to improve product quality. Establishing a CAD/CAPP/CAM integrated system for landing gear link rod components is among the first step towards its goal in the near future, CIMS. Based on the working experience and a thorough survey of LAMC, the paper make a systematic research on the CAD sub-system for landing gear link rod components on the 3D UGll software platform. The paper covers the following contents: ? Outline the scheme of CAD sub-system for landing gear link rod components. Establish a general frame of the CAD sub-system prototype, which take both the traditional way of manufacturing and the advanced manufacturing technologies, such as Group Technology and Design for Manufacturing, into consideration. ? Present a modeling method for typical part of landing gear link rod components. Give an example based on DFM analysis and analogy theory of GT. The resulting part model, manufacturing features and manufacturing process were also discussed in the paper. ? Present a complete description of the feature information model. For a typical part model, construct its feature information binary tree by combining coding and feature technology. ? Establish the feature information input system. Study the redefinition of primary feature under UGll environment, regenerate feature body by programming under UGII and add process and management information to component feature in form of attributes. Establish the integrating interface of CAD/CAPP system. Establish theinterface through programming under UGll. present some principles for thecreation of intethece and put fotward a detailed plan for CAD/CAPP systemintegration.
