With the development of urban economy and reconstruction of power system network, distribution system is required to be layout scientifically and rationally. At the same time with the development and deepening of the management of electric power company, the operation of Electric Power Law and the promises system of electric service, the reliability of electric supply plays a more and more important part in the processing and management of power system. The statistics of electric power company show that more than 80% letting off of customer is leaded by distribution network fault. So the reliability of distribution system is most important to customer, and the evaluation of the reliability and improving power supply of distribution network is significant theoretically and actually.Based on the comprehensive reading of references about distribution network reliability, this thesis presents a reliability evaluation method proposed for complicated distribution systems, based on minimal path method and equivalent approach. One city's distribution network's reliability parameters are calculated using a FORTRAN program. Based on it, the reasons that affect the distribution network reliability and the methods that improve it are analyzed and network reconfiguration approach is introduced for reliability improving.The sample test shows that the proposed algorithms are of good performances.
