Ecological environment has significant meaning to the survival and development of humans. Studying the design of dwellings by means of theories and methods of ecological architecture is a new trend in the 21'st century dwellings' development. The significant research of green dwellings in southern China has been made by summarizing basic theories, analyzing a lot of examples and characters of hot weather in this paper.The paper finds out the basic factors and specific properties of ecological balance in view of the elementary concepts and theories of ecology. The study is carried out with the systematic methods that regard the dwellings and their exterior environment-ecological system of city as a whole. Their relations and contradictions areanalyzed. The paper also illustrates the green dwelling's three features:low consumption recycling and reproduction adaptation and symbiosis. Through analyzing the characters of hot weather in southern China, The study disscuses the green architectual technologies which are fit to dwellings.On the basis of the discussion of above, the paper tries out to forward an evaluation system of green dwellings and in the evaluation system by introducing analytical hierarchy process in systematology, the study gets each factor's weigh As a result, the research is taken a big step from qualitative analysis to quantitative analysis.
