In this paper, a systematical study was done for the engineering problem using FWD to evaluate pavement structure properties. The results are as follows:Based on the nonlinear least square optimization technique and singular value decomposition method, the back-analysis method for estimating material properties is established. The theoretical results and test results show that this method is an efficient calculation approach that can converge to a solution quickly in a wide rang of initial values of modulus.Based on the genetic algorithm, the back-analysis program for estimating material properties is developed. Analysis of examples demonstrates that this method can offer better performance on stability and accuracy.Through the comparison among three methods, the back-analysis method based on the nonlinear least square optimization technique, the back-analysis method based on the genetic algorithm and MODULUS Program, their advantages and disadvantages are studied.The data from the actual pavement is analyzed by the method based on the nonlinear least square optimization technique. |
