Adaptive structures with distributed piezoelectric systems are widely applied in many industries, such as aerospace industry. In this paper, the main achievements include: First, the laws and properties of piezoelectrics are discussed in detail and the selection of piezoelectric actuator is presented. Second, the mechanical model and the finite element model of piezoelectric plate structure are derived and developed. Third, two examples are given to illustrate the application of the models. The purpose of the first example, piezoelectric biomorph beam, is to check the accuracy of the finite element model. The ANSYS results agree well with the theoretical values. The second example is to study the problem of shape control for the composite plate structure. Finally, the plate and shell test pieces are designed and manufactured using RTM. They all are expected as the base of the research on adaptive blade with piezoelectric actuators.
