Along with the deepening of power market reforming, the generation side power market of separating power plants from power network and generation bidding in electric power market has almost come into being. The support system of power market gradually expands to the whole of generation side, network and consumer. The power plants are going to compete furiously in the power market as independent ones. According to the particularity of the power, the independent power plants must optimize their resource and be managed economically in order to win the competition in the power market. Due to the lagging management mode and many shortcomings of the traditional management information system of the enterprise, the advanced management mode and new management information system must be applied to satisfy the survival and development of the enterprise. This is also an important approach to the consummation of the support system of power market. Under this background, a new workflow management information system (for short WFMIS) is presented in this article. The new system adopts a new workflow technique based on database and has the advantages of both the office automation and traditional management information system. In this article, the characteristics of the new system are analyzed and studied and the system framework, low level communication structure, correlative workflow model, execution system of workflow, execution theory, security of the new archetypal system are also presented in detail. At the same time, this archetypal system is applied in the development of Leiyang Power plant management information system to meet the demand, and the applied system has been running successfully. At last, a new idea of developing management information system based on B/S mode is presented to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional system, and the design scheme is also presented in detail.
