In order to complete the important task that the future informational war has given to the armors, and to fulfill the request of digital development of armor vehicles, it is very important to study the virtual instruments in the armor vehicles.This virtual instrument system of armor vehicles is based on the CAN bus with the embedded computer PC104 as its center. This paper discussed the design process and design idea of the virtual instrument system. It includes the critical technology like the design method of CAN bus application, system software and hardware design method of microcontrollers and embedded computers and signal processing technology. It also do a preliminary study in the reliability technology of virtual instruments.This paper firstly analyzes the background of the project and the current state of domestic and abroad study, and then on the basis of introducing the whole design scheme of the system, this paper discusses the hardware and software design of the multi-channel data acquisition system that based on CAN bus in details, the structure and software design of the upper embedded computer. In order to increase the reliability of the virtual instruments, this system uses the structure of double-CPU for the first time to design the virtual instruments degrade using system. It creates the simple reliability combined model of the virtual instruments, and gives the mathematical model of the virtual instruments reliability calculation. This paper introduces a series of effective plans of the reliability design of the virtual instruments.
