As the important equipments for louding and unlouding of materials such as coal, ore, sandstone, cement and short transport, belt conveyors are widely applied in such fields as mine, energy, metallurgy, etc. In recent years, variety and quantity of belt conveyors are both on the increase with economy development. Safeguard and fault diagnosis of itself and the key parts of it become major requests in relevant industry. As the principal unit and the major fault source of belt conveyor, trouble diagnosis of belt is the hot research topic of mechanical reliability in prot and mine. The paper designs a non-contact diagnostic system for rip of belt with virtual instruments technology based on detailed analysis of the causes of rip of belt. Works maitain:Discoursing learnedly influences of wander and compress on rip of belt, this article designs a photoelectronic monitor system of wander and a piezoelectric test system of dynamic pressure, in order to gain real-time data of them. In accordance with the design of 89C51 Single-Chip Computer as slave computer, the system judges the possibilities of rip with data fusion. Designing with structured methodology could accomplish multi-points and long-distance test.Taking situations of spot into account, data communication adopts RS-232 interface standard to finish communications between host computer and slave computer. The system takes such multiple measures as physics shieleding, optoelectric isolation and filtration to improve anti-jiamming capability.With the design of termination, a diagnostic software system of conveyor belt is designed on the platform of LabVIEW. It could realize data acquisiton, signal analysis and processing, belt states displaying, data storaging, and malfunction alarming. The results of experiment prove that the diagnostic system for rip of conveyor belt is working well. It could display real-time running state of conveyor belt and give an alarm timely before rips happen. Combined with virtual instruments, this system breaks out the limitation that traditiaonal test systems are managed only against one cause of rip. Its high reliability and stable running make a reference for further development of conveyor belt protection.
