The water damage of asphalt pavement has been one of the uppermost disease in highway, according to a lot of investigations, inadequate subsurface drainage of pavement has been identified as a primary cause of pavement premature failures. The pavement subdrainage system removes excessive subsurface water to the edge of highway in time, so it can improve pavement performance and extend service life. Asphalt Treated Permeable Base (ATPB) material has been widely used due to its high drainability and construction convenience.Lots of laboratory test has been carried out to study the design method of ATPB, the analysis of resulting data has been described to determine the effects of aggregate gradation and asphalt content on the permeability and the resilient modulus of ATPB materials. Based on the construction of the ATPB test section on Weifu road in KaiFeng,HeNan,some construction experiences have been summarized to ensure the drainage effect of subsurface drainage system.
