The working medium of pure water hydraulic transmission system-tapwater has many advantages, such as no pollution to environment, extensiveresources, low-price, safe-use, small loss of compression, low cost of system's maintenance and use, and so on. The pure water hydraulic transmission technique meets the needs of human's environment protection which is becoming stronger and stronger day by day. So it can be applied to extensive fields, such as metallurgical industry, underpit operation, food industry, pharmaceutical industry, sea resources exploitation, biology engineering, and so on. It is one of the top subjects in the field of fluid power transmission and control, and also an advanced technology involving many disciplines, therefore it has a prosperous development.In this paper,pure water hydraulic gear pump was analyzed systematically in theory, the formulas of pure water hydraulic gear pump's best radial clearance and best axial clearance were derived, the mathematical model was established, the dynamic-properties were analyzed, concrete structure were analyzed and optimized, material which is suited for pure water hydraulic gear pump was given, and also surface treatment with some key components and parts was explored.In this paper, a test system to pure water hydraulic gear pump for modeling test was designed, which is used to test cavitation property except for usual property and life test.In this paper, cavitation characteristics and property test of pure water gear pump were studied with experiments. The experimental results indicate: low- frequency pressure fluctuation was attendant phenomenon of cavitation nascent, fluctuation-amplitude build up rapidly with cavitation's development; cavitation nascent phenomenon can be distinguished from analyzing pressure fluctuation signal of outlet; and influence of cavitation nascent and internal leakage to outlet pressure fluctuation energy enhance was distinguished from analyzing high-frequencv amplitude of powerspectrum; radial clearance arid axial clearance can solve the leakage and efficiency problem of pure water gear pump properly, surface treatment with some key components and parts must be done in order to inhance service life of pure water gear pump.
