Water hydraulics is a new hydraulics technology with tap water (including filtered water and sea water) as its working medium. Because tap water has many advantages of extensive resouces, no pollution and fire resistance. All of the countries in the world are positively carrying out the research and the development of water hydraulics, which has been becoming one main domain in progress and innovation of hydraulics industry technology. Water hydraulic pump is a heart and the basic constructional parts of water hydraulic systems.Due to the nature of corrosion, low viscosity, high vaporization pressure, poor lubricity of water medium, water hydraulic pumps face technical difficulties such as erosion, cavitation failure and liquid-proof under high pressure. Considerated special physical and chemistrical performance, the paper analyses external gear pumps' structure pattern, lubrictae mechnism, volume efficiency and attrition relations. The paper introduces nanometer surface treatment technology, and uses LW nanometer ceramics liquid to repair external gear pumps.The paper designs a set of water hydraulics external gear pumps experimental system, which makes use of the LW nanometer ceramics liquid to modify new pumps and to repair used pumps. The experimental research indicates that LW nanometer ceramics liquid surface treatment technology can enhance external gear pumps' degree of hardness and abradability. All of performances of the external gear pumps have basically achieved the experimental request and are basically applied in hydraulics control system with tap water as its working medium.
