The paper elaborates on the parameters measurement and analysis as well as the methods of its realization for terminal ballistic test based on digital image processing technology. These can lighten the labor intensity of manual measuring and improve the accuracy of parameters measurement.Above all, the parameters are ascertained after the analysis and the test project is designed suitably in order to obtain the X-ray image, based on which a system of X-ray image processing and fragment parameters measurement is set up. The method of median-smooth filter which is based on median filter and Gauss filter is provided in image enhancement processing. Then the improved Sobel operator is adopted to achieve image segment based on the edge detection and the optimal threshold segment is implemented by iterative algorithm in image segment. And thereafter the areas and velocities of fragments are measured. Moreover, a means for the mass parameter is provided in the image parameters measurement. In the end a couple of X-ray images are processed and analyzed, and then the maximum of muzzle velocity is basically in agreement with the figure obtained by other experimental method. To some extent the system can satisfy the needs of parameters measurement in the terminal ballistic study.
