Boiler's operating recorder systerm is mainly used for automatically monitoring the parameters of boiler's breakdown, real-time monitoring the underlying boiler breakdown and recording their happening times and types. Based on RS-232 serial-port communication, traditional recorder system achieves memory storage through RAM DS1230Y, limiting its memory ability. With the development of interface and memory technology, this paper develops a USB serial-port based recorder system, exploiting outside USB mobile memory disk to storage breakdown information. This system runs the reading and writing operation of outside USB memory through realizing the conversion of RS-232 and USB serial-port, thus increases a large amount of breakdown information memory ability.The developed system is made up of hardware and software sub-systems. The hardware system takes advantage of singlechip 89C51, real-time clock chip DS12887, memory chip DS1230Y and serial-port communication chip MAX232 to collect and memorize the breakdown information as well as communicate with it. This paper emphases the studies on how to utilize USB serial-port to run the reading and writing operation of outside USB mobile memory and how to acquire the data document from USB mobile memory and transform it into breakdown of the boiler through USB serial-port. The software system utilizes the visual program devising instrument 桟++ Builder to realize human-computer interface, data processing and management and output printing.
