In this paper, the research and design of the loading test method of Hanjiang Highway Bridge, which is a cable-stayed bridge with single pylon, is carried out, based on the technique of vibration measurement and analysis, the design theory of cable-stayed bridges, and 3-D finite element method. Some useful work has been done as follows:Through theoretical analysis, the control load and loading cases are determined on the guarantee of the effectiveness of the loading test. The comparison analysis of the actual and theoretical deflection and stress values is conducted in order to calculate the check coefficient to determine the real loading capacity of the bridge.Running and jumping tests of motor vehicles are conducted in order to determine the real condition of the bridge under dynamic load. Based on the time history curves of the controlling sections of each case, the real impacting factor of the bridge is determined and can be contrasted with the factor calculated using the current specifications.The 3-D Finite Element Model is built using SAP, and the frequencies and modes of the bridge using theoretion modal analysis can be obtained in the same time. These modal parameters can be also obtained using impulsive tests. From the contrast, we can see that the dynamic performance is excellent. According to the mechanical characteristics of the bridges, the reasons causing the modes are analyzed.The 3-D Finite Element Model is built also using ANSYS. The differences of dynamic characteristics of five structural forms are analyzed and compared. The conclusions can be given references to the design of the same bridge type.
