With the rapid improvement of civil aviation in our country, the importance of information technology is paid more attention by the maintenance engineering corporations. At present the management information systems in maintenance engineering corporations usually serve single kind of users, so they can't meet the requirements of multiple kinds of users.According to the production schedule and management procedure of the engine overhauling subdivision of AMECO, the paper has developed a MIS for Engineering Order management, with mixed mode combining C/S and B/S.In order to solve the problem above mentioned, this paper has presented a mode of system design and developing, that is the mixed C/S (Client/Server) and B/S (Browser/Server) mode. The C/S mode is employed to solve the requirements such as the complex operation, frequent data processing, more data transmitting and high-demand to security. On the contrary, for those operations of wide scope and low-rise security, the B/S mode is used. In this way, the mixed mode has the advantages of both C/S and B/S , which can satisfy those special requirements of different users. At the stage of system implementation, the standard Java2 platform is adopted because it can be used to develop both desktop applications in C/S mode and web applications in B/S mode. The GUI is separated with business logic in order to be shared with the part of B/S mode, which is developed with JSP. So the developing efficient is improved greatly. The paper provides the procedures of design and development based on the mixed C/S and B/S mode, including requirements, function modules, entity-relation graphs and some key technologies. The details of system implementation are also described.
