In distribution power systems an essential part of the operation costs results from maintenance activities. With the capacity of power system increasing annually, the amount of devices is becoming larger and larger. Maintenance scheduling done manually is more difficult. It can not avoid cutting power more than one time in one year and do not optimize.According to the rules and considerations which are based and taken into account in the practical work, this paper advances a new model for distribution maintenance scheduling which intends to find the most economical maintenance schedule without violating any restrictions and also the paper makes a deep research of Genetic Algorithm. Then Proposed model and method are applied to a practical system, and numerical results verify the correctness and validity of them. The paper advances two ameliorations to the shortage of Genetic Algorithm itself. With the real data of power system, a counting example is developed. The counting results shows the model and the ameliorations in this paper is correct and effective.
