Process design has a large effect on the manufacturing efficiency, costs andquality, and expresses the manufacturing process of products. The main output ofprocess design is the process procedure, which defines the manufacturing route,actions, machining parameters, machines and tools for the production. Themanufacturing process modeling is to construct the process model reflecting themanufacturing process behavior and characteristic according to these discrete processdata in the process procedure. The manufacturing process simulation and analysis isperformed on the basis of this model. The manufacturing process model not only cantotally describe the process design, but also can directly show the manufacturingprocess, and provides a creative platform of process design with the process planner.The manufacturing process simulation is to analyze the manufacturing processbehavior, to attain the solution of manufacturing process and to evaluate themanufacturing process characteristic on the basis of the manufacturing process model.At present, there is little research on the manufacturing process modeling andsimulation.For solving the manufacturing process modeling and simulation, the followingmajor research works are achieved in this paper:①Research on the first-order predicate logic expression method for the processprocedure. The components of first-order predicate logic expression, the constructionrules of first-order predicate logic, the first-order predicate logic expression methodand application of process procedure are discussed respectively, thus the first-orderpredicate logic expression formulations of process procedure are formed, namely thepreconditions of logic deduction of process model is constructed.②Research of the modeling method of manufacturing process. The multi-layermodeling method is presented in this paper. The unit model, layer model, processmodel and construction method are discussed respectively. The resolution of thefirst-order predicate logic reasoning and process modeling method are explained indetailed. Theoretically, the exclusivity, certainty and integrality of this modelingmethod are proven. Meanwhile, an application case is proposed. According to thefirst-order predicate logic expression of process procedure, the process-drivenmodeling is completed automatically.
