Gsm-based Remote Vehicle Monitoring System

The GSM network has grown up from the development of these years. How to take full use of GSM resource, how to develop its advantage of wide covering, plenty of users, and how to develop extra-service have attracted more and more service-provider. As much advantage of GSM sms service it conquest more and more people.In the other hand, CAN bus has widely used in the fields of electrical vehicles, process control, medical equipment and sensor etc. The monitoring system, which is formed by single-chipped computer and PC machine is widely used in these fields. The communication way of these systems is always RS232, RS485 or Cable modem, radio station, but their inherent fault limits the fields in which these systems are used.A new monitoring system, which is developed by sms through GSM module is discussed in this paper. It is applied in this system after analyse, design, programming and debug. The system includes monitoring station and master station. The kernel of monitoring station is mcu whose function is data collecting and sending. The kernel of master station is PC machine. The link between the two stations is the GSM module which support phone, sms, data communication, fax and is developed by AT command. (the GSM module used in this system is SIEMENS-MC35).The works that have finished are:(1) Has analysed the existing car-mounted monitoring system and discussed the question existing among them;(2) Has studied the GSM and the car-mounted portable terminal, put forward the solution of monitoring station and then realized;(3) Has proposed the scheme of the master station and finished the design of GSM MODEM;(4) The idea that sending request through master station and cell-phone to monitoring station has realized finally, the master station sent CAN data to master station and cell-phone in the form of SMS after received the request, and then the master station sent the data to PC through RS-232 after receiving.The innovation of this article is it used the advanced communication transmission means in car-mounted system, it will improve real-time character, car-mounted and systematic security controlled, reduce and safeguard the cost and operating the expenses effectively .The study of the paper can make monitoring system better used in the fields of industry and data acquisition.
