As a kind of important part of mechanical drives, gear's designing and making technology is an important symbol of a nation's mechanical manufacturing level. Faced with fierce competition, how to quickly produce the parts that satisfy the market is the key of the competition, an effective CAD and CAPP system is the key point of realizing this goal. This paper analyses the gear with the object-oriented technology (00T) and the feature technology. The gear's feature concept that is suitable for the system development is defined. Analyzed the relation of gear's features, the relation between feature and object-oriented technology has been set up. The information model of the gear is set up in terms of the data and the object. The systematic function module frame finally is structured. The realization of every function module is described briefly. After the detailed analyze of the system, the paper puts forward the principle for building the system and chooses the environment to design the CAD module. The preliminary calculation structure is set up and the procedure for dealing with data is discussed. The automatic modeling technology of procedure under Pro/E environment is described. The design principle of the structure and the development of the aided-drawing system are brought forward. The structure of the aided-drawing module for gear is analyzed and the development of thismodule is realized. The kind of the prefabricated model that need set up is described in detail. The course of realizing the DLL mode between the Pro/E and TOOLKIT under the VC++ environment is given. Some technology of realizing the key coded is analyzed and some code instances are provided in the process to making the procedure. At last the operation instances of some functions in the systems are provided.
