Vehicle traveling data recorder is a digital electronical apparatus that is used to record such data as velocity, time and mileage and the information relevant to the status of the vehicle. All of the data can be output to the computer through interface. China legislates to stipulate that every coach must be equipped with the vehicle traveling data recorder that is up to the state standards. In spite of owning the advanced technique, the aboard traveling recorders are unfit for our country in applicability and price. In addition, China has been paying attention to the recorder for only several years, and has long gap with western countries, so it is urgently necessary to design and produce the products that conform to the state standards as soon as possible.The paper divides the whole system into two parts; one is on the recorder and the other is on the recorder management software. The recorder is based on microcontroller unit and all the other relevant chips. The firmware is developed by the integration tool of KEIL C. The management software are based on COM, and developed by Delphi.The main work of the paper is making out and designing the system frame and programming to arrive at the system demands. Now the product has passed the test of state standards, and been used by many vehicle departments.
