Stepping motor is a kind of electromechanical component that is driven in step angle or line displacement by electric pulse signal. Because of having the advantage of easy open-loop control and no accumulating error, stepper motor is being applied widely in many fields. It plays an important role in manufacture, transportation, etc. In order to meet the requirement of high-precision orientation and moving smoothness, subdivision driving of stepping motor is adopted. In this paper, the stepping motor system is made for engine fuel system of some helicopter. This paper consists of four parts:At first, a review of the most recent developments in the field of stepping motor is pretended Based on the systematic analysis of the principals and developments of varies stepping motors, on the emphasis discussed the principal of the hybrid stepping motor.Secondly, in order to meet the requirement of the task, a hybrid stepping motor with small volume and big torque is created.Thirdly, The driving stepping motor technique are analyzed in this paper. A micro-stepping driver for hybrid stepping motor is designed. In designing of the micro-stepping driver, two pieces of EPROMs and D/As are used. All the technology made the overall circuit has a higher running performance, fast switching time, small power dissipation and volume.In the last, the magnetic field of a hybrid stepping motor is researched with finite element method, and the magnetic field distribution is calculated.
