Stepping motor is a kind of electromechanical component that is driven in step angle or line displacement by electric pulse signal. Because of the advantage of easy open-loop control and no accumulating error, stepping motor is being applied widely in many fields. It plays an important role in manufacture, transportation, etc. In this paper, the stepping motor system is made for engine fuel system of the helicopter. The stepping motor controls fuel flux and it is very important for the helicopter. The main content of the paper is:1. The principle, driving and the research of the hybrid stepping motor are introduced in this paper.2. In order to meet the requirement of task, a hybrid stepping motor made from the appropriate materials is designed and it can work in the high temperature.3. The micro-stepping driving for the hybrid stepping motor is introduced in the paper and a micro-stepping driving circuit is designed. The circuit mainly includes the MCU, DAC and UC3770A. The controller has good performance and it is simple, reliable and versatile.4. The 3D magnetic field of the hybrid stepping motor is analyzed by the FEM software MagNet. The paper analyzes the magnetic field of the motor's teeth and gets the cogging torque and the torque angle displacement characteristic in half a pitch.
