The development of the Relay protection technology has experienced 4 phases, ranging from electromagnetism type, transistor type, integrate circuit type and microcomputer type. As far as the processor concerned, it has developed from 8-bit and 16-bit microchip to DSP and 32-bit ARM. In the meanwhile, new relay protection arithmetic based on artificial intelligence technology and wavelet analysis emerges endlessly; and many good embedded real-time operation systems have been introduced into the relay protection devices. In a word, the development of the relay protection technology ascends rapidly.This thesis is based upon the design of relay protection device applied in the QingHai-XiZhang electrification railway, which is a project developed by our research group. This system engaged the new 32-bit microcontroller and embedded real-time operation system, which can improve the relay protection device's reliability and susceptibility greatly.In addition to introduce relay protection theory, this thesis focuses on explaining how to design the software and hardware such as the CPU circuit board. It also details the process of transplanting μC/OS-Ⅱ into AT91M55800A. It provides solutions to problems we encountered during the system design and implement.
