Geotechnical Engineering Network Teaching Resource Database Development

With the development and application of computer's network in 1990s, people can learn lessons through the Internet. Thereby a number of course wares were designed and logged in internet, meanwhile, development of network education resources was going on.Our research group has developed a courseware of " Soil Properties And Soil Mechanics " which has been released on websites of Chang'an University. As developing the courseware, we recognized some limitation of the single courseware and thought that it is necessary to carry on the construction of the education resources face to a specialty. Therefore the topic of this thesis was produced.The purpose to build the Geotechnical Engineering network education resources, by use of the advantage of network, on one hand can offer a large amount of professional information for teaching and provide material for design courseware; on the other hand can provide a large amount of education resources for studying.Developing and running environment of Geotechnical Engineering Network Resources are: The operating system selects Windows XP Profession, Web server use IIS 6.0, the database is designed by Access, database visit use ODBC interface through ADO objects, web pages designed with Dreamweaver. Microsoft ASP technique(including VBScript designs languages ) is used to design dynamic web pages and to realize the link among the web pages and databases .The Geotechnical Engineering network resources includes 10 sub-resources of material storehouse, test question storehouse, courseware storehouse, software library, case storehouse , term storehouse , legend storehouse, equipment storehouse, administer storehouse and model class storehouse. We focus on the construction of the material storehouse to realized searching, browsing and downloading functions of the material in the modes of text, equation, table, graphic, imagine, audio and video. Courseware storehouse is service both for a class of courseware and a specialized courseware. Test question storehouse can realize at random selecting question and can group questions of a test. Through the model class storehouse we can listen to the lessons by outstanding teachers. Software library has general professional softwares; The case storehouse has the materials of variety of projects. Term storehouse has lots of terms of the geotechnical engineering. Legend storehouse has all kinds of specialized legends. Equipment storehousehas various of mechanical equipments on geotechnical engineering activity. Administer storehouse has many project norms and clauses ,etc.The network teaching resources is at the stage of pioneering. Through developing the network teaching resources of the Geotechnical Engineering. This thesis has expound the technique and method of the network resource construction systematically. Through test of the resources, it has already completed the outline and main functions at present, but as a commercial product need to perfect further and to supplement professional knowledge more. In sum, the job of this thesis takes a significant step in developing this complex system engineering.
