Information of Highway Toll Collection System is very important to effectively supervise and manage vehicles, drivers and tollgatherers, provide vehicles and Highway's historical information for Intelligent Traffic System, provide useful data for management of Highway, provide criminal and escape information for Police.To satisfy the specific requests, including high storage capacity, high reliability, easy management and maintenance, of the Highway Toll Collection System, a new design of optical storage and backup chip, based on the FPGA technology, is presented. This thesis concisely introduces the principle and the structure of optical storage and backup system and mainly analyses the function and the implement of the Write Strategy subsystem and Auto laser Power Control subsystem.Write Strategy subsystem can be applied to the new type of LD Driver, integrated Write Strategy function, as well as the popular conventional LD Driver. According to the type of optical discs and recording speed, two types and eleven modes Write Strategy are designed. Write Strategy subsystem is fully implemented in FPGA and simulated successfully.Auto laser Power Control subsystem adopts digital design to replace conventional analog sample and hold design. An ADC converts the analog power signals to digital power signal. Then the digital power signals are processed in the FPGA chip. Finally the outputs of the FPGA are converted to analog power signals through a PWM with analog low pass filter design and used as LD drive powers. Auto laser Power Control subsystem is implemented in FPGA except ADC and analog low pass filter design and the whole APC design is simulated successfully.A large amount of simulations reveal that Write Strategy subsystem and Auto laser Power Control subsystem, based on the FPGA technology, has a compact structure and reliable characteristics.
