Combined with the transportation condition in Hebei province, this paper developed the study on expressway capacity and application . The study is aimed at replenishing and perfecting the design standard of expressway capacity and application in our province as well as in our country. At present, study on expresswany capacity and application in our country is at its primary stage. It is reflected in that the design standard is mainly based on foreign achievements (mainly The United Manual of Road Capacity ) . Because there is great differences in internal and external road system, vehicle composition and transportation management, quoting foreign achievements directly will lead to great problems in road design in our province and in our country. For this reason, systematic study on road capacity characterized and application by Chinese transportation is very necessary.Because Hebei province is located in the special geographic location around Beijing and Tianjin, transit vehicles occupied a large scale in backbone roads, transportation condition and road circumstance here not only have our own characters but also representational in the country . It is mainly reflected in that systematize and administrative levels of expressway network are strong, transportation composition is complex, the differences in vehicle type, geometric dimension and vehicle dynamic character are apparent, driving at one's own ease is commonly seen , motor-driven vehicles and slow vehicles such as tractors, bicycles and animal-driven vehicles go mixedly, interference is very serious .The main work of this paper is :Based on the investigation and observation of the road transportation parameters of first class roads and express roads in our province, using the theory of transportation engineering ,transportation activities and the method of mathematical statistics , we established the analytic model of road capacity of typical more than four-lane expressway roads (include four-lane roads ) and the analytic method of transportation conditions. We preliminarily studied the conversion of vehicle type and road service level. The achievements can be used in road plan, feasibility study and the analytic model of designing and estimating road capacity and the analysis of transportation conditions in our province and other areas that have similar transportation circumstance in our country .
