Operations Driver Fatigue

With the development of economic and the enhancement of motorization in China, road traffic accident is becoming a serious social problem. Extremely severe traffic accidents which are mainly caused by commercial vehicle have called attention of the whole society, and driving fatigue is one of the main factors of extremely severe accidents. At present, research in driving fatigue stay on qualitative and conceptual analysis in China. There are few researches in quantitative analysis and experimental test of driving fatigue factors, the emerging time of driving fatigue and the characteristic of physiology and psychology after driving fatigue. The objective of this paper is to analyze the main factors affecting driving fatigue, find the characteristic of physiology and psychology after driving fatigue, evaluate methods of measuring driving fatigue, discuss the emerging time of driving fatigue. The results of this paper will provide a scientific reference for making driving fatigue prevention measures and rules.Commercial drivers in highway passenger transport were chosen as the study objects. Firstly, the working condition was investigated and the characteristic of commercial vehicle drivers is summarized. Secondly, the mechanism of fatigue is summarized, the factors and measure of driving fatigue is analyzed and then the mechanism of driving fatigue affecting driving safety is studied based on previous study. Finally, the experiment of a block design is schemed according to the difference in driving time, using the human factors and experimental psychology theories and instruments. After the experimental data is analyzed, the mechanism of driving fatigue affecting driving safety is tested and the measure of driving fatigue prevention is suggested.Main conclusions of this study are: (1) driving fatigue is one of the main factors of the traffic accident and longtime driving is one of the main factors of driving fatigue; (2) the ability of reacting and paying attention will deteriorate after driving fatigue; (3) reaction time and the value of paying attention to different things can be used as indicators to evaluate driving fatigue, and the level of subjective feeling can be used as assistant indicator to evaluate driving fatigue; (4) some characteristics of driving fatigue emerge after driving 8 to 12 hours.
