With the development of computer technology, network communication technology and microelectronic technology, the integrated substation automation system has been applied widespread in the fields of power system and industrial factories and mines. The integrated substation automation unit consists of two parts: microcomputer protection and real-time monitoring. The emphasis of this paper is systematically focused on the elaboration of microcomputer protection due to lack of space.On the basis of thorough investigation, this paper seriously discusses and elaborates basic principle, data sampling, logic operation and systematic structure etc. of integrated substation automation and microcomputer protection. The author of this paper is one member of power supply upgrade team of Yunnan Copper Corporation Limited. The subject is combined with practice as well as the implementation of power supply upgrade project of Yunnan Copper Corporation Limited, carrying out helpful consideration and summarization for design, selection, installation, commissioning, management and use etc of microcomputer protection unit.
