The research of the Yellow River silt porous brick has taken full advantage of the natural waste material, the Yellow River silt, to meet the need of building market for a large demand of bearing wall materials, which is very significant to the innovative research along Yellow River valley after the policy of forbidding using the solid clay bricks. After nearly five years of ceaseless efforts, our research group have already had a preliminary understanding of the physical behavior of material and the fundamental mechanical behavior of the masonry at present, but there is still a certain distance in the process of putting the Yellow River silt porous bricks to replace solid clay bricks into practical use.Because the whole mechanical behavior of the Yellow River silt porous brick masonry structure is not very clear and, in the meanwhile, it's very urgent to need the theoretical basis, this paper is based on finite element theory mainly to analyze the whole mechanical behavior of the Yellow River silt porous brick masonry structure with the finite element program ANSYS. The paper researches and discusses structural characteristics surrounding four aspects as follows:(1) Based on the experimental results of the fundamental mechanical behavior of the Yellow River silt porous brick masonry, according to the Code for designing masonry structures, the paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of the whole mechanical behavior. For the further understanding, the paper adopts solid modeling method and builds the finite element calculation model of the Yellow River silt porous brick masonry structure;(2) The values of the displacement and stress of two finite element calculation models are calculated under three single loads such as deadweight, floor, roof live load and snow load and two unfavorable load combinations.
