The western region of China is a region where the strong earthquakes are active.Most of the masonry houses located in the villages and towns lack reasonable structural calculations and seismic construction measures.The damage to the houses in this region is extremely serious under strong earthquakes.A large number of experts and scholars at home and abroad have carried out the inspection and evaluation of the buildings in the disaster area several times,and put forward the technique of reinforcement reinforcement.Existing literature on the embedded steel reinforcement technique has a lot of research but there are still many deficiencies,embedded steel reinforcement is in view of the old masonry structure,and most of the existing literature study using the test for the new brick brick.The existing literature does not consider the influence of mechanical properties,moisture content,and the effect of caulking mortar on the shear resistance of old brick masonry.For the insufficiency of the above studies,this article has conducted in-depth discussions through experiments.The main contents and conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)Through the experiment of water content of 50 years old brick,the regularity curve of moisture content and time change is obtained,and the formula of the relationship between moisture content and time of old brick is put forward,the rationality of the formula is verified,and it is concluded that the old brick optimum moisture content of 11.49%.(2)Through the influence of old bricks with different water content on the shear strength of brick masonry,the shear failure characteristics and shear strength of the test are analyzed,and the variation rule of the shear strength of old brick masonry with the old brick moisture content is established.The formula is established between the moisture content of the old brick and the shear strength of the masonry,and the rationality of the formula is verified,it is concluded that the old brick masonry shear strength of the biggest in optimum moisture content.(3)In this paper,35 ordinary sintered brick masonry which were grooved and embedded different strength mortar were tested.The shear failure characteristics and shear strength of mortar masonry were analyzed.The formula for calculating the shear strength of it is established.The calculated values,which were generated by formula developed in this method,were consistent with the experimental results.Experimental studies show that the shear strength of masonry was improved with the increase of the strength of mortar,so caulking mortar can improve the shear strength of masonry effectively.(4)Of caulking mortar bricks masonry by use of ANSYS software,the shear performance of nonlinear finite element analysis,the simulation results with experimental results,this paper compares and analyzes on the shear strength of calculation results,the cracking process and crack distribution and so on all have good consistency.
