Mountain Road Traffic Signs

With the development of the highway transportation industry, traffic safety is becoming a severe social problem at present in the world. After our country gradually enlarges the strength of the highway infrastructure construction, the proportion of mountain road traffic mileage in our country is becoming larger, and the extraordinarily serious traffic accidents which occur on mountain roads is growing year by year.As a kind of information carrier to drivers, traffic signs play an important role in preventing and reducing traffic accidents. Basing on the research of installation of traffic signs on mountain road domestically and abroad and the characteristics of mountain road, this paper analyzes the main problems of traffic signs on mountain roads in our country, conducts a research on the effects of driver, vehicle and traffic environment of mountain road on traffic safety(mainly analyzed minor radius curve, long slope and unusual weather) based on the system of driver-vehicle-road (environment) road traffic, puts forward demands on installation of traffic sign basing on information requirement of drivers. That is to say, providing integral and alarming information; carrying out restricted speed between different type of vehicles on curve; setting up traffic signs on long slope sections, and providing drivers road information by adopting temporarily foldaway symbol in unusual weather. Combined the practice with theory, this paper discusses and certifies the feasibility of the theory and methods concerned.
