The system which operates automatic equipments in ship's central control room(CCR) or control console is called Main Engine Remote Control System .As one of the important part of main engine remote control system , main engine speed control system is more and more popular in reality use Today, it's fourth generation product of speed controller.Most of speed controllers of main engine in ship use PID Control method .As we know , PID Controller has used for 5 decades as earliest and most practical controller ,and also the most widely use in industry field nowadays .especially for easy calculating process. Robustness and stability .In practice, most of control process in nacelle exist unknown situations such as non-linear, time-change environment and object change .which cannot be accurately described make PID have not enough Robustness (Robustness means a capability to keep the stability and dynamic behavior in a certain degree under domain-limited change of control object According different definite of capability, there are stability Robustness and behavior Robustness).In 1980s, as a newcontrol strategy-advanced control technology is developing fast, which containsmodern control theory and intelligent control theory, such as forecast control robust control, fuzzy control neural control and expert control, etc. These control method, some have been deeply researched and have a great deal of material and practical application, but others are difficult to use in practical situation, because they are complicated or impossible to achieve.Since these "perfect" advanced control technology exist deficiency, why not associate with PID Control technology? According this idea, people start to research a new and compound controller, obviously, the capability of Robustness become the main measure of the controller.At first, the article tell us who to simplify the high-order time-delay model to one-order or two-order time-delay model, named step test response method; Second, approximating the time-delay portion through two-order asymmetric Pade method.
