Development of ocean vessel technology determines development of ocean fishingindustry, and development of vessel technology can not be separated from improvement ofvessel automation technology. Main engine remote control system is extremely importantfor vessel automation technology. Its reliability is related to safety of the fishermen’s lifeand property. Research redundant main engine remote control system and improve its safetyand reliability. It has strong practical significance for the development of fishing vesselautomation technology, especially technology update of the old one.This paper emerged exactly from this kind of background. The paper conduct researchon the basis of main engine remote control system of Turkmen ocean fishing vessel ofShanghai fisheries and machinery research institute. Main engine is irreversible high-speeddiesel engine with reversing clutch gear box of Caterpillar. And rated power is1250KW.Rated speed is1600Rpm. The model of gear box is NCT560. Speed ratio is8.08. On thebasis of system original function, the paper research redundant main engine remote controlsystem.The paper adopts a new low-cost redundant type PLC of Siemens as main controllerwhich model is S7-400-H CPU412-3H. And the controller has double CPU hardware hotredundant function. The backup CPU can realize no disturb switch to take the place of themain CPU continue to function when the main CPU fails.The paper design and implement main functions of main engine remote control systemconsist of redundant function, control position switch function, main engine startingfunction, slow turning function, reversing function, stopping function, fault slowdownfunction, fault shutdown function, etc. And design program of main control function ofmain engine remote control system based on STEP7V5.3.Finally, the paper design simulator of main engine remote control system based on LabVIEW. That is, control unit simulate panel of bridge console, control unit simulate panel ofECR console and control unit simulation panel of local control unit. And the paper designsimulation process of collection, display and alarm of a partial signal. That is, simulatepanel of collection, display and alarm of main engine speed, tail shaft speed, oil pressure,and cooling water temperature signal. Under the condition of manipulate main engineremote control system indirectly, the fishermen can understand main engine remote controlsystem and its operation process through the simulator. It can help the fishermen to deal with emergency better in offshore fishing. It can convoy for the fishermen.
