HALE UAV is a new type of UAV, and this new type of UAV has special purpose in scout and exploration of altitude atmosphere. As a multifunctional base, the HALE UAV has been paid attention to widely during recent years. But the HALE UAV must have better performance of flight, better character of flight and so on, so only several developed countries (such as U.S.A) handle the technology of design at present. Because of the special require of design of HALE UAV, therefore, the design of HALE UAV must be a very complex process. This paper has done some preparatory study for the integrated and optimal design of configuration parameter of HALE UAV, in order to provide a favorable reference for the development of HALE UAV.In the beginning of the paper, the successful model-"Global Hawk" which belongs to U.S.A is referenced. Based on the reference, the normal layout has been confirmed for the HALE UAV in this paper at last. And then, the theoretic and methods of aircraft designing have been used in the design of pneumatic layout of the HALE UAV, includeing the design of configuration parameter of HALE UAV, the matching of engine with vehicle, the design of the parameter of the plane of the wing, the chooseing of airfoil, the configureing of rudder, and the design of undercarriage and so on. During designing, in order to satisfy the need of performance of flight, the pneumatic performance should reach a high level. Based on the above reach, in order to validate the feasibility of the project and validate performance of the project reaching the target of performance of flight or not, the work about the performance of flight, the capability of stability, the capability of manipulation of the HALE UAV has been done. Because of the HALE UAV having a higher requirement about the design of layout, MATLAB has been used to programmer for Multi-objective optimization for configuration parameter of HALE UAV at the last of the paper.
