Shandong Province, Drinking Water Safety Evaluation Studies

It's well known that water is the basic demand for mankind's survival. Dingking water crisis has attracted highly attention by all circles of society presently. Morever, the shortage of water resource, the increasing of water disaster and the deterioration of water environment will be a continuous phenomenon in the futhure. Based on this urgent position, this thesis puts forward the concept of Drinking Water Security (DWS). After presenting the basic theortical conception of DWS assessment, the index system for DWS assesemt was constructed. The Entropy-right Method was introduced for the calculation of the Drinking Water Security Index (DWSI). On the basis of above, the thesis evaluated the condition of DWS in Shandong province.The results showed that the percentage of population with access to water, the ration of water supply to village, the personal volume of water supply, the water supply potential of present project were important factorts controlling the DWS in the rural area. However, the population density and the percentage of population with access to tap water were basic factors controlling the urban DWS.The condition of rural DWS of Qingdao, Zibo, Heze, Weifang, Laiwu and Liaocheng City were better than other cities of Shandong Province. Based on the the DWSI grade, all the rural areas were below the the relative DWS condition. The DWS condition of Qingdao and Zibo city were relative safety. The DWS condition of Heze, Weifang, Laiwu, Liaocheng, Binzhou, Yantai, Dongying, Zaozhuang, Linyi, Jinan and Weihai City is relative worse. The DWS condition of Taian, Rizhao, Dezou, Jining City were unsafety.The percentage of cities with relative worse DWS condition was decreased and the opposite trend was observed in cities with unsafty DWS condition. The DWS condition of a few cities was changed from worse to unsafety such as Penglai and Liaocheng City whereas a few cities were changed from unsafety to worse such as Yucheng and Linyi City.Contraposing to the evaluation results and the problems related to DWS in Shandong Province, some advice and countermeasures are drawn to ensure DWS in view of technique means, managment system, public consciousness and policy lead based on the principle for harmonious coexistence of human and nature and guided by sustainable development concept.
