Germany has a long tradition of holding international architecture exhibitions; it has already held many exhibitions that went through the period from Modern Architecture's sprout to flourish and up to Post-Modern Architecture's rising. In the development of architecture theory, these exhibitions possess the significance of landmark, the most excellent and avant-garde architects in the world congregated here to explore architecture in the new age. This thesis studies Weissenhof International Architecture Exhibition in 1927, International Architecture Exhibition in 1957 and Berlin International Architecture Exhibition in 1984-1987. It analyzes the precondition of holding international architecture exhibitions in the aspects of social background, theory, practice accumulation and the epoch characteristic presented in these exhibitions.This thesis anatomizes these three exhibitions over again. They incarnate Humanism's evolution and consummation is a spontaneous course. In the period from the architects'self-expression, fastuous display under ideology opposition to the research of essence in social- house, the experiments of social housing gradually approach to reality. The international architecture exhibitions in Germany inspire the architects'potential and accelerate culture communication; in these exhibitions the internationalization regimentals not only compete but also cooperate. The author relates it to the idiographic situation in China in order to bring forward conceive and advice.
